PROGRAMS, DESCRIPTIONS & FEES

Available themes for school assemblies:

“KIDS LOVE OHIO HISTORY” - This includes a 40 minute presentation with visuals and stories about how to explore historical Ohio and learn little-known facts about Ohio History.  Add to that a 15 minute postcard project (we supply copy master) where children design or color a jumbo postcard and then write a note to a friend about what amazing things they learned about Ohio sites that are fun to visit.  Finally, we end with a 15 minute autographing session.  Our website: www.kidslovepublications.com is a great place to learn more about the authors and their user-friendly travel guides.

NON-FICTION BOOK PROJECT – Create your own classroom “KIDS LOVE” mini hobby book. (Ex: Kids Love Hobbies). We begin by sharing with your students our actual research techniques (and add in some amusing stories). Students will choose a format or style and discuss how to “deposit their thoughts on paper”. Next, have each student bring information (from research…maybe on web, brochures, or pictures from a recent project / hobby, or outing) to write an entry into the classroom book project. Assign editors and then “publish” a handwritten or computer generated mini-book.  This program is potentially an “Artist in Residence” project too. If you really want to make it a complete project, create a “Our School Loves Hobbies” book to keep in the school library. [more details click here]

PARENT PRESENTATION PTO / A - Your school PTO/A can also offer a one hour “How to Sneak in Ohio History on Fun Family Day Trips” in the evening (available for an additional $150.00 workshop fee).

GROUP SALES OPPORTUNITY: All Kids Love Publications titles are available at discounted pricing ($2.95 off the retail price) to students, faculty and families. Pre-sales are encouraged so the students/adults may “follow along” with the presentation and this prevents long purchase lines at time of book-signing.

AUTOGRAPHING: This is a priority and must be taken seriously (it’s part of the agreed upon contract). The colorful posters should be on display at least three weeks prior to the event. Order forms should have been copied and sent home with each student and returned.  Groups of students (no more than 25) should be dismissed near the end of the assembly (during project time) to line up and have their books personally signed by the author. The autograph station usually is a covered table in the back of a large room or just outside the door to the assembly room.  A volunteer treasurer needs to be available at the same table to take additional book sales.

FEES & DETAILS: Details of specific requirements are sent as a Personal Appearance Contract, agreed upon by the authors and the event coordinator.  Upon approval, a Promotion Pack is sent with “ready to copy” flyers, student order forms, etc. Our fee is $300.00 per 70 minute session.  The all-day fee is $750.00 and includes 3 sessions during school hours. (The fees mentioned are flat - no additional charges for mileage, meals, etc.)
